About us
Back on Track Veterinary Hospital & Rehabilitation Center was built around the idea that veterinary medicine can be both progressive and personal. We are a privately owned, growing small-animal practice where our team works together, supports one another, and genuinely enjoys getting to know our clients and their pets.
What makes us different is the variety of medicine we practice. Along with high-quality general medicine, surgery and dentistry, we have a well-established rehabilitation and pain-management program incorporating underwater treadmill therapy, laser, shockwave, acupuncture, chiropractic care and massage. This gives our veterinarians the opportunity to collaborate, learn and offer patients options beyond traditional care.
Our clients are engaged, loyal and invested in their pets’ health. Many have been with us for years and value the relationships they develop with our doctors and staff. We are fortunate to practice in a community where clients want thoughtful, individualized care and appreciate the time we take with their pets.
Most importantly, we want Back on Track to be a place where people enjoy coming to work. We value teamwork, communication, professional growth and having fun along the way. As we move into our new, expanded hospital, we’re excited to welcome another veterinarian who wants to grow with us and help shape the next chapter of our practice.
Every single person I’ve come across is so warm and happy to see my pup. They offer tons of options for treatment and make me feel much more comfortable than other veterinarians – Nicole Kuhlmann – Google Review
About this role
Responsibilities include providing high-quality, compassionate medical care to small-animal patients; performing wellness and sick-patient examinations; developing diagnostic and treatment plans; performing general surgery and dentistry; maintaining accurate medical records; and communicating effectively with clients and the veterinary team.
Our practice combines comprehensive general medicine with rehabilitation, pain management, sports medicine and integrative therapies. Veterinarians have the opportunity to collaborate closely with our rehabilitation team and develop areas of special interest within the practice.
We are especially interested in candidates who are excited to expand their skills beyond traditional general practice. An interest in pursuing certification or advanced training in canine rehabilitation, veterinary acupuncture, pain management, sports medicine, chiropractic/manual therapies, integrative medicine, nutrition, or another complementary area that fits our practice model would be highly valued. Existing certification is a plus but is not required.
The ideal candidate:
- Practices high-quality, compassionate medicine and builds strong relationships with clients and their pets
- Has excellent communication, diagnostic and clinical skills
- Enjoys collaboration with veterinarians, technicians, rehabilitation professionals and other members of the care team
- Is interested in continued learning and professional development
- Is open to combining conventional medicine with evidence-informed rehabilitation and complementary treatment options
- Has an interest in developing an additional area of expertise that can enhance the services we provide
- Is positive, dependable and contributes to a supportive team culture
- Values individualized treatment plans and providing clients with appropriate options for their pets
- Experienced veterinarians and new graduates are encouraged to apply. We welcome candidates who already have advanced training as well as those who would like to pursue additional certification and grow an area of professional interest as part of their career with Back on Track.
About you
We are looking for someone who is kind, collaborative, curious and genuinely enjoys being part of a team. Our ideal veterinarian communicates openly, treats coworkers with respect, and recognizes that great patient care comes from everyone in the hospital working together.
We value someone who is approachable and compassionate with clients, enjoys building long-term relationships with families, and takes the time to listen and educate rather than simply dictate a treatment plan. We want our clients to feel that they are partners in their pets’ care.
We also love people who are curious and excited to keep learning. We want a veterinarian who brings ideas to the table, is interested in growing professionally, and is open to looking at different ways to help a patient when traditional approaches alone may not be enough.
Most importantly, we are looking for a teammate who is positive, dependable, supportive of others, comfortable asking for or offering help, and wants to contribute to a workplace where people enjoy coming to work. We take our medicine seriously, but we also value humor, relationships and having fun together along the way.
Our location
O’Fallon offers a great combination of community, convenience and access to everything the St. Louis area has to offer. Located in St. Charles County, we enjoy the feel and space of a growing suburban community while still being close enough to St. Louis to take advantage of the city’s restaurants, sports, entertainment and cultural attractions.
The area is a wonderful place to put down roots, with beautiful parks and trails, active communities, plenty of shopping and dining, and easy access to outdoor recreation. A short drive can take you from a quiet neighborhood to a Cardinals or Blues game, a concert, a day in historic St. Charles, or an afternoon exploring Missouri wine country.
For veterinarians, it is also an especially rewarding community in which to practice. The area has a large population of dedicated pet owners, active families and dog enthusiasts, including a strong sporting and performance-dog community. Our clients want excellent care and are interested in having options for keeping their pets healthy, comfortable and active throughout their lives.
We think O’Fallon offers something increasingly hard to find: the opportunity to build a fulfilling veterinary career in a thriving community while still having plenty of life to enjoy outside of work.
Our offer
We believe a great veterinarian should be rewarded for the value they bring to the practice, while also having the flexibility and support to build a fulfilling career. Compensation is competitive and based on experience, schedule, and areas of professional interest, with production-based earning potential.
Our benefits and professional support include:
- Competitive compensation based on experience
- Production-based earning potential
- Paid time off
- Health benefits through PeopleKeep
- Continuing education allowance and paid CE time
- Professional licensing and dues
- AVMA and MVMA membership
- Professional liability insurance
- Employee discounts on veterinary services and products
- Flexible scheduling with a focus on work-life balance
- No after-hours emergency or on-call responsibilities
- Mentorship and support for new graduates
- Opportunities to develop a special area of professional interest
We are particularly excited to support a veterinarian who wants to pursue advanced training or certification that complements our practice model. This could include canine rehabilitation, veterinary acupuncture, pain management, sports medicine, integrative medicine, or another area that expands the services we can provide our patients. Support for advanced certification, including financial assistance and scheduling flexibility, can be incorporated into the individual package.
As Back on Track continues to grow, this position offers much more than a traditional associate role. The right veterinarian will have the opportunity to develop their own professional interests, introduce new services, and grow with the practice.
