About us

Want to practice compassionate medicine and also have work/life balance?

We are seeking a PT or FT veterinarian to join our five-star-rated, feline-only practice in the beautiful capital region of central Connecticut. If you understand that cats just want to be handled gently and with respect, we want you to join our team!

Our full-service practice with long time-staff offers opportunities to work in all areas of feline medicine-from behavior and wellness care to complex internal medicine, dentistry, and surgery. We have wonderful clients who love their cats… and us!

We don’t do emergency rotations, we don’t demand crazy hours, or insist that you see a pet every 15 minutes. We want you to be relaxed and happy doing your job and we even help keep you fit with an on-site work out room.

We give you TIME to think and make proper diagnoses and provide state of the art treatment that’s best for the cats (and their humans). And we do it in a friendly, supportive environment. No mean people allowed!

Practice owner Letrisa Miller, a former AAFP board member, past president of the International Association of Cat Doctors, and finalist for America’s Favorite Veterinarian, is happy to mentor recent graduates or established veterinarians looking to transition to a more focused practice. Don’t be scared- Dr. Miller loves to teach and wants to help people practice great medicine.

We have ultrasound, digital X-rays, a fully equipped laboratory and hospital (including heated kennel, oxygen kennel, etc.), rigid endoscopy, fully stocked dispensary, and surgical suite with heated operating table.

We offer a family friendly practice environment, with 3-to-3.5-day work weeks and no emergency or on-call duties. We are completely flexible and will work with you to find the best-fit schedule for you. Benefits include a competitive salary, friendly work environment, monthly grief counseling, paid time off, major federal holidays, medical, dental, and long-term disability insurance, SIMPLE-IRA with company match, and paid feline CE. Sign on bonus and help paying student loans is also in the cards.

Want to find out more?

  • Send us your resume with a cover letter describing your goals, why you became a doctor, and what kind of practice you’d really like to be part of.
  • We’ll do a Zoom call to get to know one another further.
  • If it seems like this could be a long term fit, we’ll pay for you to visit the clinic for a few days to see what it would really be like to work here.

By the way, our clinic is located in a gorgeous part of Connecticut – beautiful nature, close to the coast, great schools and a thriving cultural community. And a very reasonable cost of living!

You deserve a fulfilling career. If you love the idea of practicing outstanding medicine and getting to pet cats all day, we want to hear from you!

I don’t know what I would do without Dr. Miller and the crew at Connecticut Feline Medicine and Surgery.. They have been there for everything I have ever needed, whenever I needed it. They are the best and always a phone call away… I am so happy to have found them when I did. They treat you like you are family and always have my best interest in mind when it comes to my babies… Kaylie, Max, and Elroy.. When I met Dr. Miller she was the only vet that would help fix my cats leg, every other doctor told me to not fix it. And now she lives a normal healthy life. I will always have a place in my heart for Connecticut Feline Medicine and Surgery… Jen T

About you

We are looking for a team member who is dedicated to keeping our patients in excellent health and who believes strongly in prevention and nutrition. Observing and understanding cats and what they are telling us in their behavior and non-verbal communication is important.

We need a team member who is ready to support other team members and work with what each person brings to the table. Keen observation of work flow and cat handling that leads to understanding of how to help team members is also important.

Compassion and clear communication that empowers staff and clients is a key to our culture.

We are ready to solve all problems big or small and want people who are curious and determined to solve the problems before them. Life-long learning and improvement are part of our culture.

Our location

We have amazing clients who are willing and able to do the best for their cats, but even beyond that, we live in an amazing area. We have the top high school in the state in our town and we have numerous fantastic rescues to work with.

A little known secret is that there is a nap room upstairs from the hospital with a comfortable futon for staff to rest on during breaks or if they have their own pet in the hospital overnight they can sleep over with them. We also have a clinical psychologist in the building for when things get to be just too much or if staff or clients need mental health care.

We have top notch health care available for people in the area and if things get really worrying, we have Boston and Yale nearby for cutting edge healthcare.

There is truly something for everyone for entertainment in the area as well – from restaurants, theater, museums and historical houses and sites to fishing, bird watching, wildlife observation (and rehab), and gardening as well as outdoor sports such as cycling (bike-packing, mountain biking, cyclocross and road), endless hiking trails. There are water sports including rowing and sailing, running with famous races in the area and so much more. Dr. Miller even rides a bike to work in the summer on protected trails! Those who like to take classes in their free time have several campuses to choose from in the area. We have the best of both urban and rural life close at hand.

The area is fantastically beautiful with mostly deciduous forests, streams and rivers and the nearby ocean that draws lots of wildlife in a hilly landscape. It is awe inspiring!
