About us
The Animal Clinic of Monett has been in the community since 1989, founded by Dr. Ted Dahlstrom and Dr. Carol Dahlstrom (retired). Dr. Ted (Missouri ’87) specializes in Production Medicine and serves as Senior Veterinarian for Joplin Regional Stockyards. Known for his expertise and deep ties to Southwest Missouri’s cattle community. Dr. Ted’s passion for the what the practice means to the community and devotion to clients has been the driving legacy of ACM.
Dr. John Harper (Missouri ’88) joined ACM in 1994 and is easily recognized by his signature cowboy hat and boots. A versatile mixed animal practitioner, he is especially skilled in small animal orthopedic surgery and loves caring for horses and cattle.
Dr. John Tyra joined ACM in 2010 after graduating from Mississippi State University. Raised on a farm in Guntown, Mississippi, he specializes in beef and dairy production medicine and bovine reproduction. Dr. Tyra is the next generation of leadership at ACM and is committed to building a highly collaborative team.
Dr. Maddie Zutz (Wisconsin ’24), originally from Wisconsin, brings a love for mixed animal practice and a background in 4-H and FFA to ACM.
Dr. Reid Huffman (Illinois ’24) hails from Illinois and has a special interest in beef production and equine lameness.
ACM epitomizes a true mixed-animal veterinary practice with multi-generational leadership. Every day brings variety and new opportunities—canine orthopedic surgery in the morning, cattle herd work in the afternoon! Combined with a highly collaborative team with decades of cumulative experience, the potential for growth and learning is unlimited!
We believe that relationships are crucial for success and are truly blessed to have clients who are progressive, trusting, and willing to go the extra mile. We have built the practice on mutual respect and a shared desire for positive outcomes.
ACM may be in a rural community, but that doesn’t stop us from practicing high-quality medicine (in-house lab, anesthesia monitoring, therapy laser) which is further elevated by our incredibly talented team of technicians and administrative support members.
We have been driving the 70-mile round trip for over 12 years. All the vets are great! They take care of everything from ferrets, our dogs and cats to all our livestock. I can’t recommend the Animal Clinic of Monett enough!
