About us
We are a growing small animal practice offering a balanced, steady rhythm for a veterinarian who still enjoys clinical work, but does not want a full-time schedule to define this next chapter of life.
Our hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, with no weekends. For someone in semi-retirement, approaching retirement, raising a family, or simply wanting more time for life outside veterinary medicine, this is a chance to keep doing rewarding small animal work in a more sustainable way.
The practice has consistent revenue, steady equity growth, and a current owner who is approaching retirement and open to supporting a thoughtful transition. Gross revenue was $900K in 2023 with 1.25 doctors and $935K in 2024. For the right person, there may also be a pathway toward ownership, with possible financing support discussed as part of a mutually agreed arrangement.
Dr Gowen and his staff (especially Theresa) are wonderful! I know that my fur babies are in the best of care. They have always treated my furbabies as if they were their own. They truly love all animals and are not in this business for the money and it shows in their compassion and their prices are much less than most clinics. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would – Trish P – Google Review
About this role
This is a part-time small animal veterinarian role with a mix of routine scheduled appointments, walk-in patients, and urgent care cases for patients who need timely support.
You will have the chance to practice good general medicine in a small clinic setting, working alongside a team that values patience, cooperation, and a pleasant approach with clients and patients. Surgical ability would be welcomed, though the role can be shaped around the right person’s experience, interests, and preferred working style.
The schedule can be discussed with flexibility in mind, making this a strong fit for a veterinarian who wants to remain professionally engaged while protecting time for family, travel, outdoor interests, or a more relaxed pace of life.
About you
You are a veterinarian who brings calm clinical judgement, a kind bedside manner, and a practical, team-minded approach to everyday practice.
You may be in semi-retirement, approaching retirement, returning to practice on a lighter schedule, or seeking a part-time role that better fits family life and personal priorities. What matters most is that you still enjoy helping patients, working well with clients, and contributing positively to a small clinic team.
You will bring:
- Patience and the ability to work well with a small clinic team
- A pleasant, professional manner with clients and patients
- Confidence with small animal medicine and common procedures
- Comfort with a mix of scheduled appointments, walk-ins, and urgent care
- Surgical ability or interest, where this forms part of your experience
- Appropriate veterinary qualifications and licence or eligibility to practice
New graduates and less experienced veterinarians are also welcomed.
Our location
The practice is beautifully positioned close to the Cascade and Olympic Mountains, Puget Sound, and the San Juan Islands.
This is a location where your time outside work can be genuinely memorable. The current owner has often finished morning surgeries and still had time to catch a ferry to the San Juan Islands in the afternoon, once sea kayaking close enough to observe a whale nearby.
For someone who values fresh air, open water, mountain views, and the freedom to enjoy life beyond the clinic, the setting is a significant part of the opportunity.
Our offer
We are offering a part-time small animal role with balanced weekday hours, no weekends, and flexibility for the right veterinarian.
The contract will be mutually negotiated and agreed by both parties, with the aim of creating a positive, practical working relationship. For a veterinarian interested in a longer-term transition, there may also be scope to discuss ownership, owner support, and possible financing arrangements.
