About us
Luna Vet Care helps families give their pets a peaceful, gentle passing in the comfort of home.
This is meaningful, emotionally careful work. You will be supporting families during one of the hardest moments of pet ownership, helping companion animals remain surrounded by familiar people, familiar places and calm, compassionate care.
We are a small, collaborative team where your opinion matters. We come together monthly to discuss how we can improve our day-to-day process, support each other well and continue creating a thoughtful experience for clients, pets and our veterinary team.
Luna Vet Care was a blessing during one of the hardest moments of our lives. Dr. Lauren and Liz showed incredible compassion as we said goodbye to our beloved cat, Benji, who declined rapidly from aggressive cancer. Being able to do this at home meant everything. Benji was surrounded by familiar smells, soft blankets, and the people who loved him. From the first call, they provided calm, reassuring support. Dr. Lauren arrived with a quiet, gentle presence. Benji wasn’t fully awake, but she honored his peaceful state and kept him pain-free. She explained everything with empathy and gave my daughter all the time she needed to hold him. Liz created a beautiful paw print keepsake with his name, hearts, and a silver cat under a moon. Dr. Lauren saved fur from the spot my daughter always petted. These small acts meant the world. Benji passed in the arms of someone who loved him the most, filled with comfort, peace, and love. We will never forget their kindness – Danielle S
About this role
This role is focused on in-home end-of-life care across the Phoenix area, with coverage primarily west of the I-17. We are also open to part-time options if you are based east of that area.
You can work part-time, 1-2 days per week, or full-time, with guaranteed daily minimums. The structure can be 1099 contractor or W2 employment, depending on your goals and preferred way of working.
You will be paired with an experienced technician on every visit, so you are supported clinically and emotionally while delivering calm, attentive care.
The pace is intentionally different from general practice. Rather than seeing 20+ patients a day, you will usually see 4 to 6 appointments, giving you the time and presence this work deserves.
About you
You are a compassionate DVM who understands the importance of communication, trust and emotional steadiness in end-of-life care.
You will likely thrive here if you:
- Bring a kind, calm and respectful bedside manner
- Communicate clearly with families during sensitive moments
- Can stay emotionally steady while supporting grief and uncertainty
- Value thoughtful, client-centred care
- Enjoy working closely with an experienced technician
- Have end-of-life experience, or a genuine interest in developing in this area
End-of-life experience is welcome, but not required. We will support you.
Our location
Phoenix offers year-round driving without snow or winter road challenges, along with wide open skies, desert light and a lifestyle shaped by sunshine. You will need to be comfortable with the summer heat, but for the right veterinarian, this can be a rewarding place to build a calmer and more purposeful clinical rhythm.
Our offer
The preferred structure is 1099 contractor, paid at $250 per appointment. We are also very open to W2 employment if that is a better fit for you.
Part-time and full-time options are available, with guaranteed daily minimums for full-time work. We are happy to have a transparent conversation around structure, schedule and what would make the role sustainable for you.
