About this role

This role will particularly suit a veterinarian who enjoys surgery and dentistry and wants the team, equipment and time to do both well.

In dentistry, our technicians perform prophylaxis and dental radiography, allowing you to focus on assessment, periodontal treatment and extractions. You will have access to digital dental radiology and a well-equipped dental suite, together with comprehensive anaesthetic monitoring.

Our surgical workflow is equally well supported. Technicians manage catheter placement, pre-operative medications, intubation, draping, anaesthetic monitoring and recovery, leaving you free to concentrate on the procedure itself. The surgical suite includes a new heated V-table, new surgical lighting, gas anaesthesia and modern monitoring equipment.

Beyond the theatre and dental suite, you will have access to Class IV laser therapy, ECG, ultrasound and full-body digital DR radiology. Our Impromed electronic medical record has also been carefully configured around the way our hospital actually works.

We practise integrative medicine, so curiosity about modalities such as laser therapy, acupuncture, chiropractic care, PRP and other complementary approaches will be welcomed. You do not need to arrive practising every modality, but you should be comfortable working in an environment where conventional medicine and carefully considered complementary options can sit alongside one another.

Just as importantly, this is a role designed to remain sustainable. Our veterinarians can choose a four-day or five-day working week, with most choosing four days. Saturday mornings are shared, generally no more than two each month, and there are no night hours or after-hours emergencies. We close on time.

About you

You are someone who still finds real satisfaction in practising veterinary medicine and wants to work with people who feel the same way.

You enjoy being part of a collegial team and communicate comfortably with technicians, fellow veterinarians and clients. You bring sound judgement, self-awareness and the confidence to discuss cases openly without needing to have every answer yourself.

You take responsibility for your decisions, speak honestly when something has not gone as planned, and place the interests of the patient and client ahead of ego. Mutual respect matters to you, and you value the contribution of every person in the hospital.

You will ideally be confident in surgery and dentistry, with a current understanding of contemporary pharmaceuticals and anaesthetic practice. An interest in integrative medicine is important, although extensive prior experience with complementary modalities is not required.

You will need to hold, or be eligible to hold, the appropriate veterinary licence to practise in Connecticut.

The hospital itself sits on landscaped acreage directly on US 1, with plentiful private on-site parking. A whole-facility natural gas generator also helps keep the hospital operational when local conditions interrupt power elsewhere.

Our offer

We want this to be a role you can build around your life, rather than one that gradually takes it over.

You can choose between a four-day or five-day working week, with a genuine 40-hour maximum. Saturday mornings are shared between the doctors, generally no more than twice a month, and those weeks reduce to approximately 36 hours. There are no night shifts.

Our remuneration package includes:

• Base salary of $160,000 to $200,000, reflecting your experience and skills
