About us
We’re The Village Vet, a neighborhood practice in Los Angeles with a clear purpose: to improve the lives of pets and their people while providing a great workplace for our team and making a positive impact in our world. Our appointments run 40 minutes, so we can give every patient and owner an individual experience without rushing, and our clients reward us with 5-star reviews on Google and Yelp.
As a kid growing up in Los Angeles, Dr. Julio López dreamed of becoming a veterinarian and having his own practice. Today he’s one of the three LA-native doctors, along with Dr. Noosha Kohan and Dr, Christine Fabregas, leading our team, bringing a shared vision for what the client and patient experience should be.
The village vet is everything you’d want from your neighborhood vet. A lovely and welcoming waiting area, attentive and caring staff, and wonderful vets who really care about your animals! Dr Melchor was very thoughtful and caring, making my dog feel comfortable and safe in a new environment. She also was very transparent about treatment, side effects, and cost during my visit. The village vet has become my go to animal hospital moving forward – Tyler H – Google Review
About this role
You’ll join a friendly, supportive team where everyone treats each other with respect and teaches each other, so we all keep improving our skills. Our focus is excellent hospitality for clients and patients, and we want every client to feel seen, heard and supported.
Each day you’ll work either appointments or procedures. On appointments, you’ll alternate every other appointment, giving you time to stay with your patient from history taking through diagnostics and treatment to discharge. On procedures, you’ll check in every other procedure (one or two per team member) and remain the primary team member for that patient until discharge.
You’ll use every skill your RVT license allows in California. Our doctors let you intubate, close the skin layer on surgical incisions if you’re comfortable, and perform dental extractions. If you want to learn, our doctors and team will teach you.
- Full RVT scope, including intubation, skin closure and dental extractions
- Support from technician assistants and cross-trained CSR staff
- Electronic medical records, with AI transcription to assist with history taking
- Low-stress handling, with patients returning on appropriate medication when needed
- Staff training and contributions to our monthly team meetings and CE
- Cleaning, sanitation and other duties shared across the team
About you
You like animals, and you also enjoy working with people, from pet owners to coworkers. You bring friendliness and a good attitude to a busy, customer service focused practice, and you want every pet and person who chooses us to have an exceptional experience. You enjoy learning, you’re happy to teach, and you’re excited by a team that keeps getting better.
You’ll feel at home if our core values sound like you:
- We are One Team: honest, hardworking and collaborative so we all succeed and get the job done
- We Practice Excellence: exceptional care and service so our patients are healthy and clients rave about us
- We Embrace and Drive Change: we keep evolving and improving
- We Take Ownership: we’re each accountable for outcomes, good or bad, and we don’t make excuses
- We Make a Positive and Meaningful Impact: in our patients, their people and our world
You’re someone who:
- Enjoys pet owners and coworkers as much as the animals
- Brings warmth and a positive attitude to every client interaction
- Loves to keep learning and building your skills
- Is a Licensed Registered Veterinary Technician, or an RVT student soon to be licensed
